Today I found out that a guy I went to middle school with was killed in Afghanistan. I didn’t know him well and I hadn’t seen or talked to him since middle school, but I remember seeing his smiling face daily walking the halls of school. He was unbelievably kind and could always make you laugh.

I wanted to take a moment to remember him and thank him for making the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Moments like this remind me just how precious life is and to be grateful for all the people in my life.

Rest in Peace Darrion, I didn’t know you well, but I’ll always remember your smile.
